Dr. Jaffer M. Kattan MD
Dr. Jaffer M. Kattan MD is a glaucoma specialist who specializes in cutting edge glaucoma therapies including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, trabeculectomies, glaucoma valve implants, laser therapy and individualized glaucoma care. Dr. Kattan completed both his glaucoma fellowship and ophthalmology residency trainig at the prestigious Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. He is a graduate of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed his internship at Olive View UCLA Medical Center. His CV includes multiple research publications and presentations amongst other accolades as an advocate for all populations.
As a clinician, he is known for his hard work, compassion, and dedication to patient care. His approach is evidence-based and individualized, dedicating time to truly understand each patient’s disease and introduces clinically appropriate interventions to best meet their needs.
Dr. Kattan, an Orange County native, grew up playing soccer and enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his family. He attended the local Corona del Mar High School. He attended the University of California Berkeley for his undergraduate degree where he graduated with High Honors.
George H. Garcia, MD
As the son of a physician and a nurse, Dr. George H. Garcia grew up in the Los Feliz district of Los Angeles, and attended Loyola High School. He attended Cornell University in New York and completed his pre-medical undergraduate studies with Distinction in All Subjects. He then graduated with highest honors from the UCLA School of Medicine.
After an internship at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Los Angeles, Dr. Garcia completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA Medical Center. He authored many research articles regarding disorders of the orbit, and this interest led to even more education: a prestigious two-year Fellowship in Orbital and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. This subspecialty complements the practice of comprehensive ophthalmology, and provides further depth of knowledge in diseases and surgery of the eye and surrounding structures.
Dr. Garcia is one of very few surgeons in Orange County to have completed a full 3 year residency in ophthalmology, then 2 more years of specialty plastic surgery training dedicated to eyelids, followed by immediate election to the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). Membership in ASOPRS requires completion of a certified program, an original thesis, and written and oral examinations.
Dr. Garcia is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute/UCLA. School of Medicine. Dr. Garcia has spent years training other surgeons in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids. He was also a full-time faculty member at a major teaching hospital in the Midwest. He has won awards for his teaching, and has lectured nationally at oculoplastic surgery conferences. Since 1992, Dr. Garcia has published extensively in medical journals.
Dr. Garcia is a physician leader. He has served as Chairman of Ophthalmology at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange from 2006 to 2010, and has also served as President of the Orange County Society of Ophthalmology, He is an active Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Garcia currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Orange County Medical Association.
Named as one of the ”2008 Best Doctors in Orange County” by Orange Coast Magazine and the Orange County Medical Association, Dr. Garcia has been recognized by his fellow physicians. He was also honored as a “2008 and 2010 Physician of Excellence” by Orange Coast Magazine and the Orange County Medical Association.

Jay Kwok, OD
Dr. Jay Kwok grew up locally in Orange County, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of California Los Angeles. He then graduated with the Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
During his externships, Dr. Kwok underwent rigorous eye training at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Palo Alto, California, and at The Eye Institute in Philidelphia. Dr. Kwok also gained invaluable experience and education at private practices specializing in cataracts, glaucoma, refractive surgery, and contact lenses.
Dr. Kwok also holds the rare and distinct certification for diagnosing and treating Glaucoma, in addition to TMOD (treatment and management of ocular disease), and TPA certification, enabling him to treat ocular pathologies with pharmacological agents.
Dr. Kwok is a California state licensed Optometrist with a caring manner and outstanding skills, and he is also fluent in Chinese Cantonese and Mandarin. He enjoys spending a great deal of extra time with each patient, listening carefully to their eye concerns, and formulating a personalized plan for each individual. Dr. Kwok is an important part of the eye care team at MD Eyecare, and he is committed to preserving the vision and eye health of our patients.
Dr. Don Tran
Dr. Don Tran was born and raised in Southern California and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of California, Riverside. He graduated in 2015 from the Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry degree.
Dr. Tran completed his externships at the Malcolm Randall VA hospital in Gainesville, FL in conjunction with the Shands Eye Center at the University of Florida. He also completed clinical rotations through the Braverman Eye Center in Hollywood, FL and The Eye Care Center at NSU in Miami, FL.
At his externships, Dr. Tran received experience and training in ocular disease treatment and management including glaucoma and diabetes, contact lens fitting, refractive surgery management, and cataracts. He also received additional training and experience in low vision, binocular vision, pediatrics, and geriatrics while at the Eye Care Center at NSU.
Dr. Tran is a member of the California Optometric Association. He is licensed and TPA certified to use therapeutic pharmacological agents to treat and manage ocular disease and glaucoma. He is fluent in Vietnamese and strives to provide the best comprehensive eye care to his patients.
Dr. Don Tran is passionate about providing outstanding patient care and staying involved with community service. In his free time he enjoys being outdoors, supporting the Chargers and the Lakers, and spending time with his family and friends. Dr. Tran applies his education and professional experience with his patients and has proven to be an excellent addition to the team at MD EyeCare.
